The programme will: • Develop learners’ understanding of the background to the development of the science of nutrition. • Raise learners’ awareness of the ways in which the principles underpinning practice of good nutrition are applicable to all. • Enable learners to describe the sources of nutrients. • Develop learners’ understanding of the functions of nutrients in ensuring the well being of the individual. • Raise learner’s awareness of the links between nutrition and energy. • Develop learners’ understanding of systems for measuring units of energy • Aid learners’ appreciation of basic metabolic functions • Develop learners’ skills in recognising the effects of physical activity. • Enable learners to practice good nutrition in respect of the nutritional considerations of different groups of people • Raise learners awareness of the links between diet and health • Develop learners’ skills in meal planning and selection of foods. |

There is no end exam for this course - continuous assessment. This course includes a test paper, a Knowledge Assessment workbook and Personal Project that you complete as part of your coursework from home. |
| Additional Exam Fees: |
There is an ASET registration fee of £21.00 which must be paid before the ASET Certificate can be awarded. If students do not pay this they will only be eligible for an ICS Diploma. There are no exam fees. |
