| Summary: |
As follows, learners will be able to: *Practice effective communication skills in supporting clients. *Understand the importance of personal hygiene and the carer’s role in helping to maintain the privacy and dignity of clients when assisting with personal hygiene. *Understand the principles of basic food hygiene and safe food handling. *Assist clients with their nutritional needs. *Understand the principles of pressure care and recognise the factors affecting the development of pressure sores. *Demonstrate a basic understanding of the processes of elimination of bodily waste and assist clients with elimination. *Work effectively with colleagues as a member of a team. |

NOTE ON NVQ'S It should be noted that NVQ's are assessed in the workplace and judge competence against national standards. The ASET Awards do not in any way attempt this and therfore , in terms of what they are seeking to assess, cannot be directly compared to NVQ's.
Personal Project - Students need access to an appropriate establishment in order to complete their Personal Project eg a Care Home |

| External Exam Information: |
There is no end exam for this course - continuous assessment. This course includes a test paper, a Knowledge Assessment workbook and Personal Project that you complete as part of your coursework from home. |
| Additional Exam Fees: |
There is an ASET registration fee of £11.75 which must be paid before the ASET Certificate can be awarded. If students do not pay this they will only be eligible for an ICS Diploma. There are no exam fees. |
