The programme has 5 broad aims to enable candidates to develop knowledge and understanding necessary to: 1.Keep their workplace, equipment and themselves clean. 2.Minimise the risk of producing harmful foods and prevent infestations. 3.Protect consumer of food products. 4.Operate within the legal framework 5.To develop a candidates awareness of the statutory and legal obligations of both employers and employees in relation to health, safety and welfare. |

NOTE ON NVQ'S It should be noted that NVQ's are assessed in the workplace and judge competence against national standards. The ASET Awards do not in any way attempt this and therfore , in terms of what they are seeking to assess, cannot be directly compared to NVQ's.
Personal Project - Students need access to an appropriate establishment in order to complete their Personal Project eg a Care Home |

| External Exam Information: |
There is no end exam for this course - continuous assessment. This course includes a test paper, a Knowledge Assessment workbook and Personal Project that you complete as part of your coursework from home. |
| Additional Exam Fees: |
There is an ASET registration fee of £11.75 which must be paid before the ASET Certificate can be awarded. If students do not pay this they will only be eligible for an ICS Diploma. There are no exam fees. |
